Amethyst jewelry is made from a form of quartz. It is known for its’ lavender color that can range from a light pink all the way to a rich purple. The stone was believed to have protective properties in medieval times.

The stone was once considered as valuable as diamonds, rubies and sapphires but the discovery of large quantities of the stone in South America led to the reduction in value, making the stone affordable for most.

Amethyst jewelry has become popular because of the color. The stone is worn by many church officials and is a symbol of heavenly understanding and philosophy. The idea and most rare color is known as “Deep Siberia” and is a very rich purple color. This grade is only located in Russia and is quite costly.
