Silver Jewelry, Jade, and Fine Jewelry

Silver

Not all jewelry is created equal, but the most expensive fine jewelry, jade, silver, or diamonds does not appeal to everyone. A hand carved wooden beaded necklace found at a garage sale for $2 can be loved more than the most expensive diamond earrings which brings up the million dollar question. What is it about these gems that appeals to mankind and especially women?

A man often looks at jewelry fairly indifferently, the only jewels they are likely to wear are embedded in a watch or on rarely worn cuff-links. Typically they only look at jewelry when they are considering purchasing some for a loved one or when it is gracefully worn on a beautiful woman. Even then, they are more likely to notice bust size as opposed to gem carat and the intricate craftsmanship of fine metals.

Women, on the other hand, have an irresistible attraction to these gorgeous accessories that can break wallets, banks and the camel’s back. What gives them this urge? They don’t go out and buy themselves huge rocks for their own pleasure, and expensive fine jewelry is not always appreciated. It may be the way each piece highlights a certain part of an outfit with different combinations giving a wildly different look. It may be the simple beauty of the gem alone. An even more likely hypothesis is the thought and feeling associated with the jewels.

Jewellery, as it is sometimes spelled, is cherished because of the emotional attachment to the material possession. It acts as a memory inducer that instantly reminds the owner of the piece, whether it be silver jewelry or jade jewelry, of the moment when the piece was presented. A well presented piece, even if it was found at a thrift shop or garage sale, can bring many women to tears of joy and cement a place in their heart for the person who gave them this gift, which has been given and worn for eons.

Some of the oldest relics ever found in archeological digs are tools and, you guessed it, jewelry. So we know this is not a passing fancy, though the style and setting of these gems has changed drastically over millennia. Wood, plastic, silver, gold, platinum, and even electronic devices are suitable materials and constructions for many types of fine jewelry.
